Biography
Michael Stark is an obstetrician and gynecologist, with a particular interest in High-Risk Pregnancies and gynecological oncology. He is the founder of the International Oncology Advisory Board. He introduced a modified evidence based Cesarean Section which is now in use in several countries and has also made significant contributions to surgery by modifying operations such as vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy, and by promoting the concept of single-entry natural orifice surgery. He conducted surgical workshops in several countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Laos, Armenia, Germany. The Netherlands, Sweden, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Turkey, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, China, India, Senegal, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia Herzegovina.
Between 1982 and 2000 he was the medical director and head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Misgav Ladach hospital in Jerusalem. From 2001 to 2010, the chairman of the gynecological departments of the HELIOS hospital group in Germany and Austria, and between 2011 and 2013, the scientific advisor of the USP hospital in Mallorca, Spain. He was also the scientific director of the new European surgical robotic system (TELELAP) in Milan, Italy, between 2012 and 2015 and from 2016 to 2020, he served as the scientific consultant of the ELSAN hospital group in France.
Dr. Stark is since 2004 the President of the New European Surgical Academy (NESA), an international inter-disciplinary surgical organization with members in 62 countries. Since 2017 he is a guest scientist at the university hospital "Charite" in Berlin, and since 2018 the vice president of the Chinese Perinatology Association. In 2011, he was nominated the Medico Del Anno (Doctor of the Year) in Italy, and he is an Honorary Member of the French, Polish, Russian, Serbian-Austrian, and Italian Gynecological Associations. He is a professor for robotics at the University of Adana, Turkey, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Chisinau. He has over 230 publications, as well as a book and several book chapters.
He has also held visiting professor positions at several countries, including the Universities of Toronto, Moscow, Beijing, Milan, Adana, Uppsala, and the Weill-Cornell University hospital in New York.
